Almost everything about this is great. I just wish the top straps were easier to put on. Maybe carabiners instead of clips? Trying to clip and unclip with a child in the carrier is pretty difficult. I would just loosen the straps and take my son in and out but the straps are VERY difficult to tighten and loosen.
Fantastic product, used it on the (short) Inca Trail with our ~40lb 4yo and it absolutely saved the day. She complained of her feet going to sleep after 30 mins or so - I ran a loop of cord through the lower straps to create “stirrups” for her feet which solved the problem and allowed her to use it for hour+ stints, even falling asleep in it.
We started with a structured backpack carrier, but our little girl is over 99th percentile for height so she already outgrew that even though she just turned 3. We didn’t know where to turn. Structured carriers for larger kids had zero storage. Trail Magik stepped in with the ability to carry bigger kids and preserve all your regular backpack storage! We just took it on its first adventure and hiked miles on end with a nearly 40 lb kid who is long as can be. She feel asleep on my shoulder for the best hike nap and I was still able to carry all of the water and snacks we could need. Thanks for a great product!
The best kid carrier we've ever had! With 3 kids under 6, this is so much better than any other carrier. We are lucky to have two carriers so that we can bring the whole family along without the huge and heavy carriers we had previously. It's also surprisingly very comfortable.
An extra star for customer service which was really helpful with resolving our issue ! Thank you
I really wanted to love this. I've been hiking with my son his whole life and now that I have a second kid, my first has been booted from the carrying pack so little brother can ride in it. I've seen the trail magik highly regarded by an influencer on social media so I thought it was a no brainer upgrade. The quality itself is really good and I have no doubt about the safety of it being able to hold my 30lb 2.5 y/o. There isn't much else going for it though. I find it pretty uncomfortable, as does my kid. It's also a bit of a hassle to get it all hooked up, which is annoying because it's meant to be an in-and-out thing, just for breaks and not to carry the kid for the whole hike (not that you'd want to do that anyway since it's so uncomfortable for both adult and child). If it were maybe $30, I'd be satisfied with it because it is marginally better than just carrying my older kid in my arms, but for $100 full price I feel I got supremely ripped off.
I was very excited use the kid carrier and had ordered it ahead of a family vacation. The order was never delivered, so I filed a claim with USPS. My local post office advised they were unable to locate the package at their facility and it was either misrouted or damaged to where the label was illegible. The USPS worker advised the procedure would be for Trail Magik to file a claim with USPS for them to cover the cost of the order and shipping for replacement with new stock. I attached images and screenshots of the claim I filed, the email response I received from USPS to the Trail Magik customer service email and through your website “contact us” form and have heard nothing back after more than a week.
PLEASE reach out to me so we can get this taken care of. Communication goes a long way. I really want to use your kid carrier!
What a great concept. Perfect for hiking with a bossy three year old.
LOVE IT! Easy to put together and fits both my packs.
I bought as a gift for my son and wife! They love to hike with their toddler who gets tired so hers the easy answer!
I’m obsessed and so happy I found the TrailMagic carrier. I have a 6month old and a 2.5 year old and this is the only solution I’ve found that works for us.
Thank you so much for helping us introduce local families to the Trail Magik Kid Carrier. It is being well received as a useful addition tohiking trips :)
I received my Trail Magik carrier as a gift, and unfortunately one of the upper straps broke during our first hike using it. Customer support was helpful in getting me a replacement, but the replacement was apparently from a new manufacturer and did not have a liner sewn in like the original. This carrier was very rough against exposed skin, so I requested a replacement that matched the first carrier I received (with the liner). I am hoping that the third carrier holds up because I did enjoy using the Trail Magik for the short distance that it worked.
Perfect for my 3 year old. Great material, sturdy and safe. Easy to set up.
I was skeptical about how this would distribute my toddler’s weight, but I was really pleasantly Surprised. It definitely does make the trail more accessible to my little one, as advertised, and the trail cuddles are pretty great. I do find it a bit difficult to adjust once my toddler is in it, so I recommend getting those settings right with support from someone else first, before a solo trek. That being said, I was recommending this carrier to every stranger on the trail who had their LO with them.
I had seen this carrier all over Instagram for a while and finally took advantage of the great sale that was happening. Thankful for sales but I would absolutely pay full price for this beauty because it has been a game changer for our family! My toddler loves to run and hike as much as she can but needs breaks every once in a while. Now instead of just sitting on the side of the trail we can keep going while she gets in a nice cuddle. It also attaches super easily and needs no extra brain space for how to use
Love our trail magik! We use it for traveling and backpacking!
I have been hiking while double-carrying my baby and toddler for months. Now, my baby is almost 1 and my toddler is 3.5, meaning the baby can fit in the structured backpack and the toddler can walk more. The Trail Magik seemed like a perfect solution for us, but unfortunately that was not the case. I am plus size and the lower straps with the carabiner (even at the largest slot) do not reach all the way around my waist. I'm going to try to add additional straps somehow, but I worry about the safety and ease of use being compromised. If the straps had a few more loops it would have been perfect. Remember plus size parents are also active parents!
Bought for my wife and she absolutely loves it. Im a bigger guy too and i have used it with ease. if we have another little one we will definitely be buying another. well worth the money.
Ordering from Italy the cost is a little bit too high (60€ worth + 30€ delivery costs + 41€ customs duties), but we've been using it many times so far with our 18 months old and it's actually a great option when you need something light and easy to pack away (both daily and while travelling).
If I had to improve something it would be the buckle straps: adjustable straps with two S shaped carabiners might work a little bit better in terms of ease of use, especially when only one hand is available to fix the carrier strap around the backpack shoulder one. Other than that, great product.
It would work better for me if the straps were a bit longer. I am 6’2” and on the larger side. Also I wasn’t expecting the weight to be on my shoulders. Maybe I was using it wrong? Should I adjust my load lifters tighter? IDK.
I’ve used the trail magic kid carrier with my two year old toddler and she loves it! It is light and easy to use with my backpack. the best part that the toddler can jump in and out fast and even have a nap whilst carrying her when a foam pad is applied a bit creatively. I’ve only used the carrier in near zero(celsius) temperatures and had to use my warmer jacket to shield her back and legs from the wind. It worked fantastic and we both look forward to our next trip. I can’t wait for spring and get on trails in warmer weather!
If you have a great backpack then this is the best carry option out there!
Surprisingly good. I was worried that the lack of structure would lead to either my toddler or myself being uncomfortable, but we were all smiles. I wore my 25 lb toddler with an Osprey Talon Pro 30 pack for about 3 miles and it was fine the whole time. It was also nice to get some quality Koala hugs.
Ideal travelling from NZ to the US by myself with two small children. Ideal for airport travel, long walks and short strolls.
